The NBHM (National Board of Higher Mathematics) took the initiative to support the mathematical talent among high school student in the country. Hence the foundation of the Maths Olympiad was laid in the year 1986 by NBHM.


INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad): It is the second stage for Math Olympiad.
Eligibility: Only students selected on the basis of RMO 
(Regional Mathematical Olympiad) from different regions are eligible to appear for INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad)
Day of Examination: Third Sunday of January. It takes place at 28 centres across the country.
Time duration: 4 hours.

At clearing INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad), students get certificate and invitation expenses for lodging-boarding in training camp at Mumbai. After successful in NHBM, students will be eligible for participating in IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad). Then students get International ticket from Ministry of HRD. A team consisting of 6 selected students go to the decided international venue for global competition.
